if you look in the column you can watch lot's of the competition which seems cool as far as competitions go. Beyond the phony audience cheering track on the videos there are some good drummers in there. You notice the stick twirlers while amazingly entertaining didn't win jack. it was musical creativity that won the judges over not the trickery.



I entered locally one time and i used their foot pedal. It broke and I had to start over and it took the wind out of my momentum. It was still a toss up between me and the winner and he totally deserved it. He had a very creative avant garde style in combination with tricks like the one hand drumroll and was just overall more prepared to win. I had entered on the spur of the moment and improvised from the git go. I came very close to winning it through total musicality although i thought the young drummers really had their act together for that type of thing. Like dbl bass and modern styles that i didn't know much about. i was very impressed with them. I'm sure the judges want to make them work hard to win and make them come back at least twice unless they are just obviously superior drummers.
