Remember when Omar Hakim played with Sting? I think you do and thought I blast you from the past on one, I feel, solo that sets him apart....it's his signature. I love this solo then and today . I've got the video during the making of that concert called "Sting - Bring on the Night". Cool Video that shows the rehearsals, conflicts etc. evolving into the concert night. Forever great musicians like Branford Marsilis name a few. This is just a segment of that video.
Judging from his 'Gorgoyles' glasses, in the video, it may have been his Weather Report days which was his peaking phase. Just Wonderful! Anybody know where I can get a pair if it still exist? During my developing days playing, I was one to try and mimic him, that includes wearing what he wore haha! I used to own a pair of those glasses but lost it over time.
Forgot mentioning; Attempting some of Omar's patterns are incredibly difficult. The Gorgoyles came easy but I admit, I taped my 'hands' from falling off my arms
Of course I say that in deep respect as a sincere follower of Mr. Sir Hakim.
