I'm really trying to understand this... Look at Vinnie's gut here.
We've got to start taking better care of ourselves, people!

That old tired excuse about getting old just doesn't cut it.
Sure, our bodies change, the metabolism slows, down we
slow down, but you have to make the provisional adjustments
for that. Change your eating habits and EXERCISE!!!! The truth
is, playing the drums just isn't going to get it done and the reason
for this is the body is used to this action. If I wasn't eating right
and exercising regularly, drumming alone would do very little for me
by way of health and maintaining weight. Just ask Dennis Chambers.

Many of us have health issues now in our later years simply
because we used and abused the healthy, strong bodies
we had when we were young. Or we simply neglected to do
the things necessary to maintain a more youthful and healthy
anatomy, which really amounts to the same thing as abusing
ourselves. Any of us still above ground and who has any
portion of decent health, then it's not too late to get with a
health program that will make you look, feel and BE better.

I'm going on the road in March across the country, then to
Canada and then on to Spain and I am already mapping out
my plans for an exercise and diet regiment while I'm out.
Come on people get with the program! Do your part to at
least HELP to prevent yourself from becoming a health
statistic. Just eat right and move.

I will be posting some links to some valuable health tips
Here from time to time from a website called Real age.

Great tips on different food items and the positive effects
they have on the human body.

Here's Vinnie's gut and flabby arms.

Yes Vinnie has got larger.

Good idea Don

I buy an american salad
at UK morrisons food store just 50pence.
It has just pure salad with some sliced peppers.
I think all food can be made Exciting and remain pure.

Don, you are tapping into my favorite subject matter these days. Talking about health is sensitive stuff to many. It's almost like the new politics and religion. But there's so much to learn out there . . . why stick our heads in the sand?

But it's not just about diet and being sedentary. I believe the problem is compounded by microbial imbalance. The problem might start with overeating and lack of exercise, but microbial predisposition is something the world is beginning to understand. It may be more important than genetic predisposition. It's about sanitation, internal and external.

Several weeks ago when you posted a thread about health I was talking about bacterial overgrowth, especially of the small intestine. I'll spare you all the detail for now about how such imbalance plays a pivotal role in every major disease, physical, mental and emotional. The common denominator in all of them is acid reflux. Diabetes is now epidemic.

A few weeks ago I had an epiphany and now believe it's not so much bacterial, but protozoal. In fact, protozoa eat bacteria. This leaves the body open to yeast infection (candida). Also, when there's not enough bacteria, digestion is compromised and bad cholesterol rises. Protozoa appears to be the underlying cause. Here's one example:
http://www.biology-blog.com/blogs/permalinks/11-2006/clues-from-dragonfly-about-human-obesity.html

So what's the answer other than diet and exercise? If I were Vinnie, I'd cleanse my gut (detox) using things like colloidal silver, activated charcoal, boswellia serrata, stabilized oxygen (MMS, Ox-E-drops), french green clay and enzymes like nattokinase and papain. Forget about useless antibiotics making the problem worse. Then I'd start adding good probiotic strains like Culturelle to reestablish gut bacteria.

I've been learning about all this stuff in effort to cure my dog of what I believe is a protozoal infection (amoebic dysentery) from swimming a lot in a local lake or eating cat poop. I've ruled out so many things with this girl and this construct seems to be working. It's definitely halted the terrible seizures she's had the past two years. This subject matter marries my interest in health, poverty and environment where I'm trying to reinvent my career in the field of sanitation . . . if we don't have a hit record first. geek

Maybe Vinnie had some substance abuse issues..and finally kicked the habit for good. Weight gain is a very common thing for people when they dispose of an addiction .. they replace that habit with food....comfort food- sweets...etc

He's still playing great, but that extra weight can't be good to carry around. ---Just my 2 cents.--D.L.

I'm sure what you say is well and good, Woof, and surely worth
looking into. I'm one that believes in baby steps, and that being
said I believe we do wonders for ourselves beginning at the most
basic level.... Fresh colorful vegetables, fruits, lean meats, clean
water, lots of natural berry juices and exercise. That's what has
worked for me.

What you say about substituting an addiction is very true, D.L.
I often wonder though what good it does to go from the fire to
the frying pan....?!

Fix what's broken and get healthy!

That's not the skinny Vinnie I remember from the Berklee days...LOL!!!

No, it isn't funny but you can only take care of your own temple.
Everything Don says is true, (did I just say that???), take care of yourself now and it will take care of you later.

When he played a date out in Vegas he brought food from the employee buffet to his dums and proceeded to eat during rehearsal.

Don,

I cannot believe that video. It
makes me wonder if he is not
ill or something. Awful.

Of course, he is such a monster.
I hope that he gets control of
that situation.

As we begin to get older it doesn't take much, Pete.
If you even look at food too long you'll begin packing
on the pounds.

It really bothers me to see Vinnie this way. I hope he
gets a handle on this.... And I don't mean a love handle!

Look at the difference:
