I thought this was a Billy Cobham Forum?
When people post info about gigs they did last night, it make me wonder?
Mmm, I guess they need their own web site?

Its cool but, most of the people on this forum gig, so I don't really see the point.
I prefer to read more useful information about Billy or CD releases or Drums.

Of Course this is a Bill Cobham Forum.

Pete is running this site
much like Bill ran his site .

Bill's Forum was Were Talking Jazz
meaning post anything about Music , not just all about Bill.
This Forum is the same

I say well done to Pete

And to Bill
the Curtis Mayfield Chicago words
Keep On Keepin' On.

Drumman makes a valid point.... I can definately see the similar connection to Billy in a post called "Candy Dulfer porno jazz", much more than a post pertaining to any one of our gigs...

Keep em comin, drumman. You're definately on a roll of epic proportional, foot in the mouth, intelligence...

I would also like to apologize for sending that big black steroid induced muscular guy to your house to twist your arm to the point of causing you searing, unbearable pain that finally led to your submission to click on that post that you had no intention of reading...

He wasn't supposed to go to that extreme.... He is so fired! lol! geek

D.

P.S. Hey, drumman, when you finally get to play your very - first - gig, make sure and post something about it here.... I promise to read of your experiences with the local neighborhood talent show you decided to enter.... Be sure and try to pull off a couple of Billy licks. After all, we wouldn't want your thread to have absolutely nothing to to with Billy Cobham now would we?!

Just messin wit cha, Dawg... Very Happy Wink

DM,

If you had been around, at
Billy's old forum, you would
see that what Billy wanted
was for us to be a community
and that is what we are.

Colin - Thanks. Appreciated.

I can't tell you the kinds of
things we have collectively
been and are going through
but through the years, we
have endured.

I am welcoming you to this
community, where you can
share what you wish. Just
contribute with respect and
Billy will be proud.

I don't get the chance to be
on the forum, as in the old
days, with all that is happen-
ing, right now, in my universe
but I want to and hope to
spend more time, with you.

I do regret a couple of things
about what I have done, here
but have learned from it and
intend to be more appropriate
in the future. Like any real
family, we push and pull on
our boundaries, here but in
the end, we are there for
each other.

By all means, let's talk more
about our Billy!! You start!!

cherry

Regards,

Well said, Pete, and this is what most newcomers don't understand.
I have been posting here since circa 98-99 and many of you were here
before me. We've all been through some things together, good and not
so good. We've been angry and have seen red, and we've rejoiced and
have been happy for one another's successes.

Billy, yourself, Ted, Suss, Woody, Glen, Colin, Niki, Alex, Lewis, D.L. and a
host of others, some still here and some gone have shared our ups and
downs with one another over the span of 10 years for me. This is the
very core and essence that make this site a community.

And this is what drumman DOESN'T understand. He doen't understand it
because he doesn't know about any of these things that we've all gone
through over the years, TOGETHER!

drumman's lack in judgement is simply a result of his lack of knowledge
of the circumstances. And those of us who do know can excuse such
naivete with a smile. Smile

I believe it was Socraties who originally said "Know Thyself." I have been humbled more than once being a part of this community and forum. For that, I thank you Guys! You know who you are!

Nephew D! What a joy it was to spend quality time with you on the phone yesterday.

It is also especially significant to have spoken with Boomer over the weekend. The man is incredible (and I know he hates hearing me repeat myself) Sleep lol!

In many ways, this forum is more than a "community." From where I sit, it's a Family! Though we're share a lot "in common," (especially our Music and how we express it) we are each uniquely and inextricably linked to each other. Go figure! bounce

So keep on keepin' on Brothers!

You'll never know who'll you meet down the road. And when you have an opportunity to share with anyone as I have with you, do so in the knowledge that Faith works by Love (not fear! - Galatians 5:6).

Thanks Guys! You ALL are jazztastic to me and I couldn't be who I am unless you are who YOU ARE!

... and that's for REAL!

Drumman,

Listen. I hope you accept my invitation
and settle into things, here. You will
note that Billy, himself, drops by every
now and then and with personal notes.
Let me tell you: That is rare.

It's not just a fanboy forum. We're
friends and we have gone through a
lot, together.

I welcome you to become a part of
this very special experience.

Well said Pete, Don, and Susstastic !

Drumman, what you have hopefully just read is all true. Boomer has been hte bridge for all of us to meet, exchange ideas and views [ and disageements ], and to learn about music and how we all relate to the rest of the world.

I'm going to post a perfect example of what I'm talking about. this picture was taken last year at a Billy Cobham Drum Clinic at the Blue Note in New York City. The two guys on the outside are myself and Niki Dolp, and excellent drummer from Austria. And the bridge in the middle of the picture is of course, Boomer.

Because of this forum, I had gotten to learn about Niki and his life thru a number of years of postings. And as it happened he was visiting New York with some friends and we got to hook up at the drum clinic. I'm still astounded at how powerful a force the internet can be.

Boomer's site was destroyed by vicious hackers several times over the past few years, so we've had to regroup in this haven provided by Pete. The people that are here do so because we want to be here, and we enjoy sharing our lives and our music with each other. That's the key word - sharing- . We'd love to hear some of your drumming in the Bytes section as well. Maybe someone here can offer some positive feedback which would benefit your performance.

It takes guts to open oneself up on a faceless electronic platform such as the internet. But as the saying goes, nothing ventured - nothing gained.

Peace, TED

That's right, Ted... And here's a pic of David Latimer and myself when David attended an EC show in Philly. This is all result of Billy and the creation of his webpage. Not just cyber, but physical connections were made. It goes far beyond the limits of: "When is Billy coming out with a live Spectrum cd?" kind of thing.

Through Billy Cobham's actions and efforts people around the globe have been joined together in more ways than one.
Thank you, Pete for perpetuating it all.

Gosh! I'm overwhelmed with our Family!

I will not name names except to say that its GREAT to see Cousin Ted in the mix, along with my Nephew Don with Latimer!

Hey Niki... U R The Man! I need to sit at your feet, instead of you sitting at Alphonses!

oops... no disrespect to Mouzon. bounce

Wow!

P.S. Ebony & Ivory is memorialized in the pic with David Latimer and Don Thomas together! I'm imprinted for life - and this is a Good Thing. May others have a heart bigger than their ears! And that's for real coming from me. I love you Guys!
