It takes SO much skill to play this way.
I think it's a good idea for every drummer
to study jazz drumming in depth even if
you plan to never actually play jazz as I
believe it gives you a certain connection,
touch and sensitivity with your kit that
you can use in any genre of music.

I love watching and listening to Alex play!

Much, congratulations, Alex! It's nice to see that there
is still the same fire in a few of those who started with
this forum from way back in the day. Many have come
and gone here. Some are still around but we hear from
them very rarely or not at all.

It's surreal to see how some things change as our lives
take their courses. I so much miss the buzz and activity
we once had... But as it goes, such is life.

Hang in there, Alex and keep swinging those sticks with
love and passion.

D.

Well, something that is surprising is that SUDDENLY most forum activity AROUND THE GLOBE stop circa 2013 (most forums are dead), I have a theory about the reason...

But anyway that had nothing to do with me, I hardly came to this forum because a particular member enerves me, haha. But yes, we had good old times with You, Pete, Suss, Nicky and many others (sorry to not say your names) and I enjoyed it a lot.

Going back to the drum forums on the Internet, but on the aspect more precicely of the whole music situation worldwide, is that the conditions/work/etc. have become very bad since we started here, at the begining of the century, nobody knows what could happen,
it¨s like "a big shadow" overflying the PROFESSIONAL scene, and it does not look good. In any case we can only try to keep going...

Yes, but we can always find a place somewhere to
present the arts...  Who knows?  Maybe some day
we may be relegated to playing street corners
for change but that diminishes our efforts over
the years no less.

What I have is mine and what you have is yours.
I read and hear people say all the time, things like:

"There will never be another Buddy Rich", "Billy C."
or whomever.  And that's true. but there will also never
be another Alex Sanguinetti, Pete Corona or Don Thomas
for that matter.

And as long as there are people like you around, those with
passion, conviction and a genuine love for the musical arts
and their contribution within them, then we will always find
a place to present and share them somewhere.

The masses may migrate in a different direction, let them...
Speak to those who will listen.

Well, I never played for "the masses", the problem is that not even the minorities want to pay, just "download for FREE".

Warmest regards!

Well, I never played for "the masses",

That's my point...  It doesn't matter, you're still playing, right?

Masses and money shortage withstanding, you're still at it.
That's what will keep it alive.

There's really no point in complaining about the download issue.
copying has been around ever since I can remember, nothing new
under the sun.

The only thing different today is the technology. We've gained
a lot with the arrival of the internet. We've also lost quite a
bit as well... What are you gonna do?

You (Alex) are one of the most believable (credible) musical drummers in the world for the style that you've chosen to focus upon. I absolutely love your playing - and have been doing so for over ten years now since I first heard you.

In my book, you are the book. Bless you for your expertise --- while I borrow a lick or twenty!

I never really played "funk," because I just did it all for the sake of music.
