Hi drumman,

On the 7th of March this year I sent this message below. That cd was released on the 5th of March this year in my country and Billy performed here that day with the musicians on that album. All the tracks of the cd were performed live by the group if I remember correctly. It's a good, funky album. I sent that cd to Ted also that time in March.

"I saw and heard Billy Cobham live here in Finland (Europe) on the 5th of March. Mr. Cobham was here about a year ago and participated on a recording. The artist, Tuomo "Tuppu" Orrenmaa is a fusion/funk guitarist and the cd that just was released here is his third solo album. The drummer on the whole cd is B.C. The Tower of Power horn section is also present on six tracks. If I remember correctly all of the 13 tracks of this album were performed live on this show, which lasted about 1 h and 40 minutes. The encore was "Stratus". Billy Cobham had a longer, good sounding and well-built drum solo that incorporated two bass drum work, playing with four sticks, dynamics etc.

I also bought the cd at the concert. It's about 64 minutes long and it was recorded here last year in April and August. Here you can listen to the first track "Make My Day" of the album. The other tracks 2-4 are from Orrenmaa's previous releases. In our newspaper the music of the new cd was described as funk with some progressive elements. About the international distribution Orrenmaa states that "we are also doing our best to get the album available in the States, Japan, Germany, etc. but there's still work to do with that".

Thanks again Ted for the cd (Cab's Theatre De Marionnettes) you sent me in return. I've been listening to this a lot. Virgil Donati's bass drum work is unbelievable. Here is a clip of him warming up..
